Our River's Wash Care
The Gentle Cycle
Washing: Wash Bandanas or stoles by hand or on a gentle cycle in cold water, using a mild, natural detergent. Think of this as a calm, cool tributary flowing over your clothes. Avoid using bleach, which can muddy the waters and harm the fabric's natural color.
Drying: Allow your women accessories to air dry naturally, either by laying it flat like a calm pool or hanging it up like a waterfall. Avoid the harsh sunlight, which can cause the colors to fade like a drought. If you use a machine, a high spin helps to push out extra water.
Ironing/Steaming: Use a low-heat setting for ironing, like the gentle warmth of the sun on a riverbed. To protect the fabric, place a cloth between it and the iron. Steaming is a great way to refresh a garment, like a soft mist rising from the water.
Storage: Store your accessories in a cool, dry place, like a quiet cavern.
Navigating Specific Fabrics
Natural Dyes: These are like a new current; they may bleed at first. Wash them separately. Avoid bleach and direct sunlight, and use warm heat for ironing or steaming.
Dry Clean Only: Only take these pieces to the dry cleaner when they truly need it. Choose an eco-friendly cleaner that avoids harsh chemicals and plastic covers.
Minimizing Washing: Natural fibers have antibacterial properties, so you can spot clean small marks and air out clothes to refresh them instead of washing them every time. This helps you conserve water, just like a river that flows with purpose.
Cashmere: Gently hand wash in lukewarm water, then squeeze out the water without twisting or wringing. Roll the accessories in a towel to absorb water, then lay it flat to dry. Keep it away from direct heat and sunlight.
Wool: Dry clean or hand wash in cold water. Do not tumble dry, as the colors may run.
Avoiding Rough Waters
Wringing: Don't twist or wring delicate fabrics, as this can damage the fibers and change the garment's shape.
Tumble Drying: Keep delicate items away from the harsh tumble of a dryer.
Ironing: Iron accessories inside out to protect the surface and prevent any shine from forming.
